2015 Virginia Grain Open Golf Tournament Recap & Results

Pleasant weather and a wonderfully maintained course greeted farmers and agriculture industry representatives for the 2015 Virginia Grain Open on August 7th at Piankatank River Golf Club. Nineteen foursomes participated in the tournament to benefit the Virginia Grain Producers Association.

The tournament began with a networking lunch and warm-ups on the driving range. At noon, General Manager Buzz Lambert read the rules and kicked off the tournament with a shotgun start. Players worked their way through the course enjoying views of the Piankatank River and the adjacent corn and soybean fields. Longest drive, closest to the pin and hole in one competitions were arranged throughout the course. Fleet Brothers, Inc. sponsored the grand hole in one contest with a prize of your choice between a new John Deere Gator or a Massey Ferguson utility tractor. Despite the players' best efforts, we did not have a hole in one!

As teams returned to the clubhouse from a game of golf they enjoyed a wonderful prime rib dinner, awards ceremony and raffle. The winner of the 50/50 raffle, John Fleet, was generous enough to immediately donate his winnings to the VGPA scholarship to benefit the education of an agriculture student in the Commonwealth.
