VGPA and the Eastern Virginia Young Farmers Host "Glasses of Grain" Event to Showcase Virginia Grains in the Malting and Brewing Industry

The Virginia Grain Producers Association and the Eastern Virginia Young Farmers are proud to host a Glasses of Grain event on August 16th. This event will bring young farmers, farmers of all ages, and representatives from the malting and brewing industry together to learn from one another and enjoy an evening of networking, fellowship, and a barbecue dinner.

At this event you will hear from Brian Wiersema, Pilot Plant Manager at the Virginia Tech Department of Food Science and Technology. For this event Brian has brewed a special beer that uses entirely Virginia-grown products. The malt barley and wheat used in the brew was grown by Billy Dawson of Bays Best Feed in Heathsville, VA. The late Dawson was an instrumental figure to the early adoption of Virginia grains by the malting, brewing and distilling industry and it is our honor to serve this special beer in his memory.

As a farmer: This event is a valuable opportunity to learn more about your opportunities to grow high quality grains and make business connections with potential specialty grain buyers.

As a Brewer, Distiller, Maltster: This is your chance to meet one-on-one with local grain producers and communicate the quality and quantity needs you have, as well as learn what your colleagues are doing with local grains.

There is no cost to attend this event, however due to limited seating and supply of the Virginia-grown beer, registration is required to reserve your spot. Please use the online form below to sign up today!
