CORN INFORMATION

Corn Information:

Corn yields have increased an average of 3.5 bushels per acre per year over the last 10 years. For 2007, the estimated yield was 151.1 bushels per acre.

Using the 10-year historical trend, corn yield could reach 180 bushels per acre by 2015. In 1970, the average yield was about 72 bushels per acre.

New hybrids will improve drought resistance, water usage, nutrient usage, disease and pest resistance, and more—all of which will combine to increase yields and total U.S. production.

Thanks to emerging economies and the availability of new technologies, more corn is being grown around the
world—generating a greater global supply, helping other nations become more self-sufficient.

Nearly 3 gallons of ethanol can be made from a bushel of corn—up from 2.5 gallons just a few years ago.
